My name is Linda, I'm a musician by nature, a teacher by profession, and I want to share and spread my knowledge and love towards my two favourite things in the world: music, and languages!
I grew up in a family full of musicians, with my father as a great bass player, and his cousins as talented brass and piano players. My musical upbringing led me to enrol in a music school by the age of 9, where I was classically educated. My piano teacher helped me to embrace the joy of live performance, while my dad's impeccable music knowledge largely shaped my taste and preferences ('It's the alphabet', he would say to me). I was introduced to the guitar around my 14 birthday and soon got hooked up on it. Discovering by myself how to play the guitar helped me realize that I have a great sense of pitch and can easily play whatever I hear. During high school, I kept learning about music and continued to perform as our school orchestra member. I went playing live whenever I could, both solo and as a part of duos/trios: for various cultural manifestations, exhibition openings, music memorials etc.
I inherited my father's good taste in music and an unbiased approach to it, as well as his love and admiration for foreign languages. Since I've always been good at learning new languages, I came to the decision to study Russian Language and Applied Linguistics at the University in Zagreb, Croatia. During my studies, I continued to gain experience in performing live music as well as recording in the studio, writing and arranging songs and teaching piano, music theory, instrumental accompaniment and, of course, languages. To state some of the highlights: I was a part of a well-known musical ensemble Medley Theater, I've been in a Uni band where we played only Russian music, and further played in various trios/bands for different occasions. In addition, I recorded backing vocals, radio jingles and voice-overs for various artists, radio stations and projects. Most recently I wrote, arranged and recorded two songs for a children's chapter book called 'When the miracle happens' and three years ago I formed a trio called Marshrutka with my college friends. In this all-girls trio, we developed our own unique sound and cover style, therefore getting recognized for our nuanced dynamic and well-toned timbre. Since all three of us studied languages and shared the same passion, our unique project has quickly been recognized and led us to have our own Christmas concert, performing as guest artists at famous Croatia's annual concerts, and featuring in a song.
In this fast-paced world full of offered shortcuts to gaining any possible skill (especially music skill!), I want to, first and foremost, help my students find their pace of learning, and feel less pressured, but more motivated. Furthermore, I want to teach them to think, feel and live music, and I do that by combining my classical education and diverse performing experience. Each person has their own path, and that's why I create an individual approach based on what makes YOU tick, music-wise. It can be either more of a comprehensive piano/singing/music theory course, a particular song preparation, or guidance in making the most of what you already know; I also offer ear training (if you wish to start to play by ear) and creating instrument accompaniment (if you want to support your singing with piano). I am communicative and welcoming to any of your questions regarding music! To conclude, I offer my lessons in English, Croatian and Russian.
