Joe Mahone played on renowned stages such as BBKing's in New York City, House Of Blues and Jazz, Oriental Art Center, the JZ - Club in Shanghai, Casa Bar in Zurich and Brown Sugar in Taipei. During his touring career, Joe Mahone shared the stage with soul -- legends such as Sly And The Family Stone, The Average White Band and Chaka Khan.
When James Brown passed away at Christmas 2006, Joe Mahone was asked to join the New York soul legend "Carton J. Smith and the Mighty Magnificents" at BBKing's Blues Club for the New Year's Eve show of "Godfather of Soul" James Brown. A real honor!
During his time in Shanghai, Joe Mahone was one of the founding members of the progressive-rock band "The 88's" and a member of "Shanghai Funk Incorporated". Both bands were well known in China and were constantly on tour.
Joe Mahone has many years of playing experience both live and in the studio. His musical background comes from the roots of American music which he is able to convey clearly and impressively in his lessons.
Joe Mahone's musical influences are as diverse as his preferences in music. Drummers such as Clyde Stubblefield, John "Jabo" Starks, Melvin Parker (James Brown), Ramon "Tiki" Fulwood, Jerome Brailey (P- Funk), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), are responsible for his characteristic playing, and drummers such as Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine), Matt Cameron (Soundgarden) and Steve Jordan (John Mayer) are among his favorites.
